Chapter 2: Home Isolation Projects

✓ The Stool

Sandy has a real job, but did have time to make and upholster a cushion for a stool that I repainted for her. The stool looks great and matches the dog Murphy bed we worked on last year out in her SHEd. Just wait until you see the great job she did on the guest bed we’ve been working on…

✓ The Henhouse

Well, I probably should never have started winterizing the henhouse because one thing led to another, and then another…

Recall from last week’s episode that we put-in the new drain and box (visible on the right). Now, it was time to build the raised foundation for the henhouse. Soggy chickens lay soggy eggs.

Next, we needed to move the henhouse back into position and onto the the new raised foundation. For this task we used our hard-earned Smarter Exercise muscles and our trusty workhorse of a trike.

Now that the henhouse was on her foundation, and with the coming rains, we wanted to expand the roof. Of course, the ladies would need a bridge down (and a protected boardwalk) in order to travel unmolested by hawks or coyotes to their favorite shady hangout underneath the solar panels.

✓ Painting the Guest Bed

Painting the world’s most unnecessarily heavy and ginormous queen-size bed was no small undertaking. From setting up the Dexter-style plastic “paint” room inside the garage, to dismantling the pieces, to reupholstering the head and foot boards to then putting it all back together… but it was all worth it in the end.

Next week, I got to get those garage doors lubricated and reprogram some remotes – the next update is sure to be exciting!
